Recently, the "Advanced Structure and Composite Materials" project under 2021 National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology was officially announced. The forming and application of high-performance magnesium alloy large-scale casting/forging technology project, with Shanghai Jiao Tong University as the project lead and Wanfeng Meridian as the subject lead, has won support from this Program.
The project caters to the lightweight needs from new energy vehicles, high-speed trains, aerospace and other fields. The subject research will be carried out from three levels, i.e., fundamental research, key technologies and demonstration applications, to eventually achieve industrial scale production capacity.
In this project, Wanfeng Meridian is mainly responsible for the key technology research section of integrated die-casting car body structural parts. Relying on its technical advantages in the field of magnesium alloy die-casting, Wanfeng Meridian will research the design methods and manufacturing technology of rear longitudinal beam and hatchback. It aims to overcome the challenge of integrated design and casting technology of large and complex magnesium alloy structural parts, and promote large-scale demonstration applications in the automotive sector.
