Wanfeng Meridian Won the First Prize of Chongqing Science and Technology Progress Award

Recently, Chongqing Municipality held a Science and Technology Award Conference to officially announce the 2020 Chongqing Science and Technology Award winners list. The project "Key Technology and Application of Magnesium Alloy Complex and Special Castings Preparation and Processing", jointly completed by Wanfeng Meridian New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (or “Wanfeng Meridian”) and Chongqing University along with other partners, won the first prize.

The project focused research on key technologies such as high malleability casting magnesium alloy design, the alloying technology for coating active elements in the liquid phase, magnesium alloy grain refinement, uniform filling control, microporosity control, and thermal cracking control. With leading technological innovation capabilities in the field of magnesium alloy die-casting, Wanfeng Meridian has successfully developed large-scale thin-walled complex magnesium alloy casting products, such as cross car beams and central control brackets. It breaks through the common technical bottlenecks that restrict the advancement of the magnesium alloy industry, such as low malleability, high defects for complex castings and low yield. These products have achieved large scale application and consolidated  Wanfeng’s leading position in automotive lightweighting.
